Bennett, Ethel M. G. "Hébert, Louis ." http://www.biographi.ca/EN/ShowBio.asp?BioId=34415 (accessed July 24, 2008).

This source is a biography of Louis Hébert, one of the first settlers in New France. The biography is very useful because Hébert is an important figure in Canadian history. He introduced the idea of agriculture in New France and provided a way for other French settlers to survive off the harsh climate of North America. This source has nine paragraphs, enough to clearly describe Hébert and his role in history. This biography is definitely a very informative source.
This biography is really important if one needs information about Louis Hébert. It is most likely an accurate source, because it comes from the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online. The quality is phenomenal because the biography gives enough information to write a report on Hébert. The author has taught as a college professor in Ontario, so she must be very educated in Canadian history. Her point of view is unclear, but her writing style is very formal. The author is very clear on the subject, which makes this biography an informative and useful source.

Brown, Craig, Editor. The Illustrated History of Canada. Toronto: Key Porter Books, 2002.

This source is an illustrated book about the whole history of Canada. It has 622 pages; some of them full color illustrations, others black and white illustrations, and the rest just words. It is a good book if one needs information about everything that happened in Canada from the 1500’s to the 21st century. This book has everything from fur hats to hockey. This book would be useful to anyone researching Canadian history.
This book doesn’t have much information about early New France. The book may not be very accurate either. The reason why it wouldn’t be very accurate is because this book doesn’t really focus directly at the settling of New France. The quality of this book is average; although it isn’t very detailed, it at least has something. This book doesn’t have a clear author, so it is impossible to find a point of view. This source isn’t as useful as La Nouvelle France, a book which does focus on New France. Still, this book is a good enough source because it has information useful to researching the early settlers of New France.

Moogk,Peter N. La Nouvelle France: The Making of French Canada-A Cultural History. East Lansing, MI: Michigan State University Press, 2000.

This source is a book about New France. It provides very detailed information about New France. This book only has two or three pictures, but less pictures means more information. However, the pictures are just as important as everything else, which is because most of the pictures were probably drawn in the 1600’s. Plus, a picture is worth a thousand words. This book is extremely useful to anyone researching New France.
This book is a really informative source to use when researching New France. The book must be accurate because it was published by a university. The quality of the book was superb, mostly because it can be easily understood and interpreted by anyone so long as they are literate. The point of view of the author is unclear, but he is a history professor at the University of British Columbia. His writing style is not personal, but factual, a trait which allows his writing to be somewhat unbiased. His writing style is also very clear and comprehensible, which makes this book a very useful source.
